Grand Rapids Lansing Traverse City Frankfort FAQs

Naturopathic medicine is based on the belief that the human body has an innate healing ability.

Naturopathic doctors (NDs) teach their patients to use diet, exercise, lifestyle changes and natural therapies, including nutritional supplements, constitutional hydrotherapy and more, to help the patient reach optimal health. They take into account not only the physical but also mental, emotional and spiritual health of patients and use many tools to access the client.

All of our Naturopathic doctors (NDs) at Grand Rapids Natural Health have attended a four-year, full year round, post-graduate, doctorate level, naturopathic medical school, recognized by the US Department of Education, are clinically trained, and work in all aspects of family health.

Doctorate level naturopathic training requires over 1,400 hours of didactic education and over 2,000 hours of clinical training and direct patient care in outpatient teaching clinics, plus preceptorships and internships and in hospital settings.

We highly encourage that all potential clients look into the training of their provider when considering naturopathic care. Although many naturopathic practitioners exist, our NDs are unique in that they are clinically trained at level similar to a MD or DO, which ensures the safety of care provided. Our NDs are also overseen by a licensed medical physician.

*** All Naturopathic Dotors at MCHM are overseen and medically delegated by Andrea McSwain, DO***

Our Naturopathic Services Offered

Naturopathic Initial Consultation – $350

An Adult or Pediatric Initial Naturopathic Consultation is the first step to establishing care at our clinic, allowing the Naturopathic Doctor to review the patient’s complete medical history, any previous testing, diagnoses, etc. Our Naturopathic medical team then creates an individualized plan of action that may include but is not limited to, supplemental help, additional Integrative services, collaborative programs with practitioners in office, and more. Our medial team is committed to finding the root cause of illness, treating our patients with the most natural care possible. Each consultation is personalized, tailored to the patient’s specific wants and needs, and planned as thoroughly as possible for efficient, effective healing.

Naturopathic Follow Up – $90-$150 ($135 Most Common)

A follow-up appointment with a Naturopathic Doctor at Grand Rapids Natural Health is a case by case assessment that can range from a 30-minute to an hour long appointment (most typically 45 minutes). Depending upon the care a patient is receiving, a follow-up appointment could entail anything from reviewing health and supplemental progress, or discussing health and wellness concerns. Each appointment, much like the Initial Consultation, is tailored uniquely to each patient and their needs.
